To read the Bible is one of the basic elements of the Christian life. Many new believers realise that opening the Bible in some random place is no way to go about it. Then again, reading it from cover to cover (which is the right method) also has difficulties. What are you to do with the laws in Leviticus or the visions in Ezekiel or the symbolism in Revelation? And how am I to apply the Bible to my life? These are the kinds of questions we seek to address in this series. First we must know what the Bible is as God's Word. Next we need to see the whole Bible as a unified narrative. Then, we need to discover how all of the Bible is written that we might know God. This divine revelation is given to us in human language so we need to learn how to read better in general. Once we have these principles in place, we can see the whole Bible as pointing to Christ. Lastly, we consider how the Bible must be applied to our lives. The jumping-off place for each of these discussions is Psalm 119, which is an entire meditation on God's Word. A summary booklet that you can keep in your Bible while you read through it is attached here.
