What is God think about the coronavirus (or COVID-19)? In this series, we explore what the Bible has to say on subjects where science and technology are silent: What are the origins of evil? If God is good, why do bad things happen? What might God's purposes be for allowing natural disasters? How should we deal with fear and anxiety? How should Christians think about suffering? What does the Bible say about sickness, healing, and medicine? What happens after we die? How should I deal with the death of a loved one? How should we treat one another during times of crisis? These will be trying times for all. Now more than ever we need to listen to God speaking to us in the Bible concerning natural disasters. Even while we listen to the Bible with one ear, we ought to listen to medical experts with the other ear advising us to implement social distancing, regular 20-second long hand washing, and no physical contact in public. As of 26 March 2020, South Africa is on national lockdown, which means we need to love our neighbour by staying at home. If you or a family member is showing symptoms of fever, dry cough, unusual tiredness, you should phone the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) at 0800-029-999.
