What should the church really prioritise? In the early days of the church, even before Paul became a Christian, we read that the disciples of Jesus "devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers" (Acts 2:42). Jesus was once asked what is most important and he said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind...and Love your neighbour as yourself" (Matt. 22:37-39). Before Jesus ascended he left his disciples with the commission to "make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:19-20). All this must happen in the church -- a community called out to worship God and grow together. These are the priorities of Jesus and the early Christians who followed him.
